San Daniele is a slightly sweeter prosciutto produced in the northeastern part of Friuli and wonderful with this dish if available. Combining several kinds of apples allows even better complexity to something so simple.

Ingredients

Granny Smith Apple| MCintosh Apple| Golden Delicious Apple| Red Wine Vinegar| Radicchio| Salt| Pepper| Poppy Seeds| Extra Virgin Olive Oil| Prosciutto

(peeled and cored nicely)

(peeled and cored)

Tablespoon
Red Wine Vinegar

Radicchio
(di Trviso, leavs separated)
Salt
Pepper

Tablespoon
Poppy Seeds
3
Tablespoon
Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Ounce
Prosciutto
(thinly sliced)

Directions

  1. 1. Arrange the prosciutto slices on a large platter.
  2. 2. Cut the apples into thin julienne strips and place in a mixing bowl. Add the poppy seeds, olive oil, vinegar, radicchio leaves and salt and pepper to taste and toss to coat.
  3. 3. Mound the salad in the center of the platter and surround with grilled bread. Serve immediately.
